Amazon Web Services (AWS) Think Big Space Celebration
We had the privilege to work with the AWS InCommunities team to plan the celebration of the inaugural AWS Think Big Space in Northern Virginia. This event gathered Prince William County Public School officials to unveil the remodel of the first Think Big Space at River Oaks Elementary School on April 13, 2023. AWS Think Big Spaces provide a place beyond the standard classroom for students to explore and cultivate an interest in STEAM and STEAM-related careers. These labs encourage a hands-on approach where students think big to solve real-world problems.
The event started with a school assembly with brief remarks by AWS and Prince William County School District. It was followed by a ribbon cutting for the rebranded space, the unveiling of the book vending machine, and a photo opportunity. River Oaks received $20,000 for STEAM initiatives throughout the school, and $5,000 for teachers and staff. Students were invited to attend the Think Big STEAM Fair after the event!
