In September, I had the pleasure of planning and officiating my sister's wedding. Kimone and Edwin met in New York on an app called Happn in 2015. They later got engaged in Paris on top of the Eiffel Tower in 2018. Since their engagement they have had 3 wedding dates that were unable to be fulfilled due to reasons out of their control. Most recently they were scheduled to be married on the beautiful island of Ibiza in May. When the borders were closed due to the pandemic they pushed back their wedding date until September in the hopes travel restrictions would be lifted. As their date approached and we could see things were not getting any better they knew they could no longer put their lives on hold and love could no longer wait.

They decided they would move forward with their wedding date with a small intimate wedding in my backyard in Connecticut. Giving myself and my team two weeks to plan an incredible wedding they would not forget.

On the day of the wedding we set up two floral displays inspired by Princess Beatrice florals, creating the perfect backdrop that accentuated the natural greenery in the background. Kimone and Edwin said “I Do” with an intimate guest count of 30 family members and 100+ guests watching remotely on a Zoom call. Following the ceremony their guests watched pre-recorded speeches from family and friends and enjoyed a small reception with their guests. The day was filled with love and laughter and Kimone and Edwin were finally able to become one in the middle of a worldwide pandemic. Their story, like many other couples during this time, is one for the history books and something they will be able to tell their grandkids.

We are so grateful they trusted us to plan and execute their day. We wish them many years of happiness and can not wait to plan their big reception later down the line.
